Eric’s life has been defined by hard work and determination. As an immigrant growing up in Esparto, CA, Eric began working as a farmworker in the agricultural fields at the age of 5. After high school, he attended and graduated from California State University, Sacramento, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and a Master of Public Policy and Administration. It was while at Sacramento State that Eric developed his passion for helping others and began his work to make a difference in people’s lives through the right policy.
Eric knows first-hand what it takes to organize a community behind issues and how to find consensus among a broad coalition of people. From his time at Sacramento State to the Sacramento City Council dais, Eric has made a difference on issues that affect the lives of everyday people. And with over 20 years of experience working with the state legislature, Eric knows how to get things done. He has been committed to tackling quality of life issues, helping working families, supporting small businesses, protecting the environment, and improving transportation.
Eric has called Sacramento and this district home for nearly 30 years. He has served the community in several different capacities, including as a Governor’s appointee on the CSU Board of Trustees, president of the Tahoe Park Neighborhood Association, chair of the Sacramento County Planning Commission, and president of the Sacramento State Alumni Association.
